Band Members Perform at FBA

Congratulations to everyone for their strong showing at FBA Solo & Ensemble Competition on February 3 & 4, 2012. The hard work each student has put in was evident in his or her performance. Listen to the Woodwind Ensemble as they play the piece for which they received a Superior rating. The judge was very complimentary, remarking, “You took me to another place.”

Visiting student band from Japan needs place to perform

Smoke and Water Damage to Martin County High School Auditorium have left the band without a place to hold their concert with the Funairi High School Band from Hiroshima Japan.

Read the story in The Stuart News. Thanks to Cynthia Washam and Treasure Coast Newspapers for covering our quest to find a venue for the Funairi High School Band concert.

Tiger Regiment Posts Straight Superiors at F.B.A. Festival

The MPA is the marching band’s FCAT, their final exam. Tiger Regiment performed their half-time show for judges, and are given a grade between Superior, Excellent and Good. There are five scores:

2 for Marching & Maneuvering
1 for Music Performance
1 for Auxiliary (Color Guard and Majorettes)
1 for General Effect

The best possible score is Straight Superiors — i.e. Superior from all 5 judges. A score of “one” is a Superior. MPA is a huge deal, and the reason why the band works extremely hard on sounding exactly right and making sure every move is done correctly.
